acosmichippo (r/atheism) was right on the money with this comment regarding the picture above haha:

It’s pretty amazing how well all of these work by just substituting “Jesus” for “drugs”.

This is your brain. This is your brain on Jesus.

Just say no to Jesus.

Get high on life, not on Jesus.

Jesus free is the way to be.

I’d rather eat bugs than do Jesus.

Jesus is whack, so watch your back.

Jesus costs you more than just money.

Reach for the stars, not Jesus.

Stand up to Jesus or fall to your knees.

Dan Barker was invited onto Eric Bolling’s Fox News program to discuss an issue in Texas regarding a nativity scene put up on public property in the front of the City Hall, and when he offers up his opinion he’s given the boot.

Eric Bolling, how about actually tackling the issue at hand and not getting so emotional and taking personal offence at someone else’s opposing view to your religious beliefs and shutting things down then and there? As soon as you do that you’ve lost the argument. How weak…

I’m not really a fan of church, especially modern day churches, but this one is a total beauty. The Borgund Stave Church in Norway, built somewhere between 1180 and 1250CE. It’s made entirely from wood and wooden boards or ‘staves’. Somewhat reminiscent of Lord of the Rings.

Brother 1 – “Hey, Brother! Considering that we exist, our creator (mom) must be an omnipotent being controlling the entire universe, understanding our every thought, a truly timeless entity. What we should do now, is build massive constructs in her name and follow a very specific set of rules and laws that we think, is her will and understand of morality”

Brother 2 – “I don’t believe that. Mom is probably just another person, like us.”

Brother 1 – ” YOU SPEAK HERESY! *Kills Brother 2*

Africa! Fuck yeah!!! They’ve built a centre celebrating human evolution and science… Go you good thing!

Probably the continent least in the view of God, Allah or Yahweh. At least if you go off quality of life, I mean just ask any African what they pray for and compare it to the average American. I’m sure you’ll find a fairly large amount of dissonance.

“Please God, make sure my children get at least 1 meal this week and clean water to drink.” vs “Please God, let me when this football game and bang that hot chick that lives next door.”

Anyway, rant aside. The Gauteng Provincial Government have established The Cradle of Humankind and Dinokeng initiatives to invest in geo-spatial tourism. The Cradle of Humankind is one of eight world heritage sites in South Africa, and is recognised as the place from which all humankind evolved. Sounds like somewhere many atheists and scientists would dream of going!

They government has invested millions of dollars, giving jobs to 1000s of people working at 100s restaurants, tourist attractions or places of accommodation. Definitely something worth supporting! Sorry Americans I guess you’ll just have to settle for your Creation Museum

It appears the Christians are starting to prepare as much as the atheists are for this year’s Global Atheist Convention in Melbourne, Australia.

I can’t be bothered rebutting any of this article… But I will share a few quotes that made me laugh.

There is little doubt that the media will give full-on coverage as they did last time, with features and interviews sympathetic to the atheists and antagonistic toward God.

It’s unlikely the media will give Christians opportunity to balance atheistic misinformation about science and the Christian faith.

At the time of the last Atheist convention, CMI sent an open letter of invitation/challenge to the convention organisers for a public creation-evolution debate. We got a rejection back the same day—which didn’t surprise us, except for possibly the speed.

News of the convention prompted Dennis Prince, publisher, editor and pastor, to create a one-off newspaper to cover the issues and proclaim the greatness of the Creator God. He was concerned that people who are ill-equipped and gullible could be easily swayed by their academic talk.

“These are not your average atheists”, Dennis said. “These are militants with an agenda—to rid the world of Christianity and the freedoms and benefits it has won over the centuries.”

Fuck me… every other news article these days involves people seeing the face of Jesus in a sandwich, chocolate bars, and now some woman’s drying laundry? What’s more frightening, other than the fact that a 38-year-old woman from Kent, England. noticed what she thought was the image of Jesus’ face in her husband’s sock, is the fact that the media think it to be news worthy (my hypocrisy may be showing considering I’m also writing about it)…

They even talked about creating a shrine to the sock but then the face was lost when they moved it.

Gee, what a shame! Seriously though, have we nothing better to report on? This just proves that people need to get outside more often.

Reports have come to light this week of an Iranian Christian pastor being sentenced toexecution after he refused to revert from Christianity back to Islam. The man, Youcef Nadarkhani, is an Iranian Church leader and faces imminent execution after refusing the order given to him by the Iran supreme court to denounce his faith.

Now in his 30s, Nadarkhani, first converted from Islam to Christianity when he was 19 yrs old. However, authorities only caught up to arresting him for his apostasy in 2009 and he was immediately sentenced to death under Islamic Sharia law. Nadarkhani was initially spared by an appeal to the supreme court ruling in July this year. Unfortunately the case was reheard at a court in his home town Gilan, and he again faces execution.

“Repent means to return. What should I return to? To the blasphemy that I had before my faith in Christ?” Nadarkhani allegedly said during his trial.

“To the religion of your ancestors, Islam,” the judge replied, according to the American Center for Law & Justice.

“I cannot,” Nadarkhani conlcuded. -

London’s Foreign Secretary William Hague has condemned the ruling and is appealing to Iran to spare the man’s life. He says this is further illustration of Iran’s “continued unwillingness to abide by its constitutional and international obligations to respect religious freedom.”

Amnesty International stated that “freedom of belief, which includes the right to change one’s religion, is protected under Article 18 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, to which Iran is a state party.”

Some other fun facts about Iran and execution. Iran executes the second most number of people in the world each year, coming second only to China. This year alone there have been 400 or more executions, most of which have been reported by the government (yeah, most…). 100 alone have occurred this September.

Iran is also one of the few places you can go in the world to view teenagers being executed. On top of that, in contrast to America people sit on death row for a great deal less time. A 17 year old girl recently convicted of murder was sentenced on Aug 20th, denied appeal on Sept 11th, and hanged on Sept 21.

So yeah, Iran, definitely not one of my top 10 places to ‘hang’ out…
