Anti-gay group Focus on the Family have apparently forked out $700 000 to produce an ad that uses young children to proselytise their religion. Pretty disgusting stuff.
I get so sick and tired of hearing about these sorts of extravagant expenditure on religious ads with anti-atheism, anti-gay, anti-abortion, anti-science, etc. messages. There is undoubtedly millions of dollars a year spent annually in the US on these sorts of ads.
Maybe these self-rightious and spend-thrifty Christians should ask themselves, “what would Jesus do with this money?” Would he really bitch and moan about two men getting married, about a rape victim’s right to abortion, about those who don’t follow his particular form of religion…? Or perhaps he’d actually use the money to heal the sick, shelter the homeless, cure the blind and diseased, feed the poor, etc.? Then again, Jesus often carried out apparent acts of charity and goodwill in order to show off his skills to unbelievers not because they were the right and good thing to do…
John 6:25-59, feeding 5000 people not to remedy their hunger but to show them how to be ‘spiritually fed for eternity’.
John 11:1-44, raising Lazarus from the dead, not for the sake of Lazarus, but to show that He was ‘the resurrection and the life’.
So maybe they are following his teachings… Either way, what a waste of money that could’ve actually been used for good!
